Romney Getty

WINNER OF THE 2007 TORONTO INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARD FOR BEST COUNTRY, Romney Getty is a powerfully yet dynamically voiced Canadian singer / songwriter gaining momentum since the release of her very first album Fill In Your Gray. Its waves to blues and country caught the attention of many international magazine reviewers (Uncut, Mojo, The Times, Blues Matters, Guitar Techniques, etc.).

Her international festival touring for the last four years has marked her as an incredible solo performer, using her soul influenced haunting country voice to capture her audience until she is ready to leave them wanting more.

Romney has recently recorded her second album loaded with some of Canada's highly skilled musicians including the likes of Bob Egan of Blue Rodeo and Colin Cripps of Bryan Adams, as well as accomplished guitarist/vocalist brother Jeff Getty, all complimenting her original soul/country songwriting.

Romney's independent music under her family owned Augustus Records has gained her airplay on U.K., U.S., Canadian, Australian and New Zealand radio stations. Bob Harris of BBC Radio 2 speaks of her as having a "real but gritty sound at just the right moments".

Having just completed her Australia/New Zealand summer festival tour, Romney returned to Canada to perform at the July 2007 Bayfest supporting Toby Keith. Throughout her extensive festival tours she has also had the pleasure of playing alongside such artists as Joe Cocker, Billy Bragg, The Bottle Rockets, New Model Army, Michael Franti's Spearhead, David Wilcox, Shannon Lyon, Kevin Breit, Jill Sobule, Amy Winehouse, Kelly Joe Phelps, KT Tunstall, The Levellers, Dallas Frasca, Ash Grunwald, Liz Stringer, etc.
