Bio

Jay Semko is known worldwide as singer/songwriter/bassist with multi-platinum Canadian pop icons the Northern Pikes, and as an award winning music composer for numerous film and television productions, including one of Canada's most successful internationally syndicated series, "Due South". Jay's songwriting and composing for film &TV has earned 2 Canadian Music Publisher Association Awards, 5 Juno Award nominations as a member of the  Pikes,  and 2 Gemini Award nominations for Best Original Music Score in a Dramatic Series, among many others. He has co-written with many well-known songwriters in Canada and beyond, and was recently nominated in the 2011 Western Canadian Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year.

In addition to Jay's numerous albums with the Northern Pikes, Jay now has 9 solo releases on Canada's premiere roots/alternative label Busted Flat Records. Jay has toured across Canada numerous times, played at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and also performed at the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, Tennessee. He has received many stellar reviews, and his solo albums have charted highly on the Canadian
!earshot Folk/Roots/Blues charts (with some #1's included!!!) 

His newest album,  "Sending Love",  features 11 new songs written by Jay, all lyrically woven in a tapestry of love, sensuality, and spirituality. Early reviews are suggesting that "Sending Love" may be Jay's finest work ever……in Jay's words:
 " I kept calling this 'the romance album' as I worked on it - all the songs are sewn together in a subconscious stew of love and raw emotion…I just laid everything on the line, straight from my heart, both lyrically and musically…."
